On June 6, the National Energy Board held a teleconference to promote a new round of agricultural network transformation and upgrading, summing up the implementation of agricultural network transformation and upgrading since 2016, mobilising and deploying this year's agricultural network transformation and upgrading tasks, and putting forward work requirements. Qicheng Yuan, member of the party group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that since the implementation of the "13th Five-Year Plan" new round of agricultural network transformation and upgrading in 2016, all regions and enterprises attach great importance to, and increase their efforts, the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural network has achieved greater results. Focusing on poverty alleviation, policies, funds and measures are tilted to support the "three regions and three states" in the depth of poverty. To help revitalise the countryside, it has implemented the upgrading of the agricultural network in small towns and villages and the rural electrification of machine wells, which has improved the production and living conditions in rural areas. It has promoted the formation of a strong domestic market, further improved the reliability and capacity of power supply in rural areas, and rapidly increased rural electricity consumption and domestic electricity consumption, boosting rural consumption. Promoting border guarding and consolidation and civil-military integration, the scope of upgrading and transforming the agricultural network has been further extended to border areas and border regions, and expanded to new areas of civil-military integration.

The meeting stressed that the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural network is an important livelihood project, related to poverty alleviation and rural revitalisation, and related to the practical interests of tens of thousands of farmers, as well as an important initiative to expand investment and promote stable economic growth.

The meeting requested that all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) energy authorities and the State Grid Corporation and the Southern Power Grid Corporation should attach great importance to the objectives and tasks put forward by the "General Office of the State Council Transmits to the National Development and Reform Commission on the "13th Five-Year" period of the implementation of a new round of opinions on the upgrading and transformation of rural power grids" notice to strengthen the organisational leadership and coordination.
